Did you know? You’re often in a state of hypnosis without even realising it!

Updated: Apr 18

Hypnosis is like that state when you’re halfway between sleep and being awake—your body is completely relaxed, and your mind is deeply focused. In this state, you’re not paying much attention to anything else around you. Hypnosis is often used to help people relax, manage pain, or make positive changes in their behaviour.

Real-life examples of hypnosis:

  • Ever get so into your work that you lose track of what’s going on around you? That’s a form of self-hypnosis!

  • How about getting lost in a book or movie, forgetting everything else? Yep, that’s hypnosis, too.

  • And daydreaming? When you’re so deep in thought that you don’t hear someone calling your name? Another common example of self-induced hypnosis!

  • Ever found yourself washing dishes, only to realize afterward that you don’t even remember doing it because your mind was somewhere else?

  • Or have you ever driven on the highway and suddenly realized you’ve lost track of time? That’s what’s known as highway hypnosis.

See how natural the state of hypnosis is?

Kids and hypnosis:

Kids are naturally great at slipping in and out of hypnosis, especially when they’re playing. That’s why they might not hear you when you call them for dinner—they’re so focused on their play that they don’t notice anything else.

Athletes and performers in “the zone”:

Athletes, musicians, dancers, and other performers often get so immersed in what they’re doing that it’s like nothing else exists to them at that moment. That’s a hypnotic trance, often called “the zone” or “flow.” Many professional sports teams even have a hypnotist on staff to help athletes reach their peak performance.

Why I love hypnosis:

Hypnosis works by tapping into your subconscious, where your behaviours and habits are deeply rooted. Think of it as reprogramming the software of your mind. When your conscious mind struggles to overcome bad habits or past traumas, hypnosis steps in to make those changes easier and more effective. By accessing your subconscious, hypnosis helps you break free from old patterns and create the positive change you’ve been looking for.

Some more things to know about hypnosis:

  1. It’s natural: Hypnosis is a normal state that your mind naturally slips into, like when you’re lost in a good book or movie.

  2. It’s simple: The process is easy—your mind is gently guided into a relaxed, focused state where positive suggestions can take root.

  3. It’s safe: Hypnosis taps into a state of mind we all experience daily. There’s nothing strange or forced about it—just your mind doing what it does best!

  4. It’s cooperative: Anyone with a mind can be hypnotized, but it only works if you’re willing. You’re always in control, so if you don’t want it, it won’t happen.

  5. You’re in control: Hypnosis doesn’t make you do anything you don’t want to. You’re fully aware and can’t be made to do something that goes against your values or desires.

  6. Your secrets are safe: You won’t spill any secrets during hypnosis. You decide what you want to say, just like when you’re fully awake.

  7. It’s not against any religion: Hypnosis has no connection to religion—it’s simply a tool for mental and emotional well-being, compatible with any belief system.

What about that stage hypnosis you’ve seen in movies or TV shows?

No worries, I’m not doing that! Stage hypnosis is all about putting on a show. Participants might do silly things like pretending to be a chicken, but these effects are purely for entertainment. Clinical hypnosis, on the other hand, is about making real, lasting changes—like helping someone quit smoking or manage their weight. It’s done in a professional setting, one-on-one, focused on your well-being, not on entertaining a crowd.

Would you like to experience what it’s like to be in hypnosis—without even feeling like you are?

That deeply relaxed, focused state comes so naturally, you might not even realize you’re in it… and yet, real change is already happening.
